What To Expect

Organic Maple Production

Candy Mountain is the region’s only Maple Syrup Farm certified to produce USDA Organic Maple Syrup, and by New York State for our commitment to Environmental Stewardship and Food Safety! Your hosts, Mike and Ingrid, are retired environmental chemists! We love to give tours, and to teach kids about the environment and the science behind Maple Syrup.

Step inside Candy Mountain Maple’s modern sugarhouse and see how maple syrup is made from start to finish. During Maple Days, visitors can watch the evaporation process, learn how sap becomes syrup, and hear directly from the producers about the science and craft behind maple production.

Tours offer a close look at the equipment used to produce USDA Organic maple syrup and explain how Candy Mountain combines traditional maple knowledge with modern food-safety and sustainability practices.

Guests are welcome to ask questions and experience the process that turns fresh Adirondack sap into pure maple syrup.

Purchase Candy Mountain’s USDA Organic maple syrup along with a variety of maple products made right on the farm.

Available items often include maple syrup in several grades, pancake mixes and other maple treats perfect for gifts or taking a taste of Thurman home with you.

Staff are happy to help visitors learn about the different syrup grades and how each one can be used in cooking, baking, or everyday meals.

Available All Day

Candy Mountain Maple is operated by Mike and Ingrid, who bring decades of experience in environmental science and chemistry to their maple production. After long careers as environmental chemists, they turned their attention to producing high-quality maple syrup using careful monitoring, sustainable forest management, and strict organic standards.

This event is made possible, in part, by occupancy taxes granted by Warren County and the Town of Thurman.
